Metal sunglasses are favored by the younger generation due to their rich colors and diverse styles, and fashionable women are even more fond of them. Special purpose sunglasses have a strong function of blocking the sun's rays and are often used on beaches, skiing, climbing, golf, and other wildernesses where the sun's rays are strong and their indicators such as UV resistance have high requirements. Different people, according to different preferences and different uses choose metal sunglasses, but the most fundamental is to be able to protect the wearer's safety and vision from damage to the basic principles.

The following is a list of contents:

  • Classification of metal sunglasses

  • Protective measures for metal sunglasses

Classification of metal sunglasses

Classified according to the type of lens, metal sunglasses are broadly classified into seven categories: anti-reflective protective lenses, colored lenses, tinted lenses, polarised lenses, sunglass clips, night driving lenses, and color-changing lenses.

  1. Anti-reflective protective lenses: these lenses are coated with a thin layer of magnesium fluoride to prevent the reflection of strong light, allowing you to see more clearly and without interference from strong light.

  2. Coloured lenses: also known as "tinted lenses", these are lenses that are made with chemicals that give them a color to absorb certain wavelengths of light. This is the most common type of lens used in metal sunglasses.

  3. Tinted lenses: they are colored on the surface of the lens, with the color being the darkest on top and then lighter downwards.

  4. Polarised lenses: to filter out the sun's harsh rays on water, land, or snow in an equal direction, special coatings are added to the lenses in a vertical direction, called polarised lenses.

  5. tinted lenses: the addition of silver halide chemicals to lenses that are originally transparent and colorless, and which turn into tinted lenses when exposed to strong light as a form of protection.

  6. Sunglass lenses: sunglass lenses are polarised sunglasses designed for nearsighted people, with effective protection against glare and UV rays.

  7. Night driving lenses: night driving lenses should be able to block more than 80% of the other car glare, can effectively reduce the other car headlights from the blinding glare and other harmful light, blocking the glare at the same time can be normal to see the road, to ensure driving safety.

Protective measures for metal sunglasses

Wherever you store your metal sunglasses, always remember to keep the mirror side up.

  1. Folding. The frame is usually designed so that the left temple folds first and then the right.

  2. Take off and put on. When handling, use both hands, holding the temples parallel to your cheeks to take them off and on.

  3. About cleaning. Use a special glasses cloth to wipe them. Dry wiping is not recommended, however, as this tends to wear the lenses. It is best to rinse them with water and then use a paper towel to absorb the water before using the spectacle cloth to wipe them.

  4. Regular adjustments. After a period of wear, the frames may be deformed, causing a burden to the nose and ears.

  5. About placement. For short periods, make sure that the lenses of metal sunglasses are placed with the convex side upwards, otherwise, they will easily wear out and avoid contact with various chemicals, cosmetics, and medicines.
